Since January 2007 PEMEX started selling ultra low sulfur Premium gasoline (UBA) in the northern border. The ultra low sulfur gasoline can be purchased in Ciudad Juárez, Ensenada, Mexicali and Rosarito. Supply of ultra low sulfur gasoline will be available nationwide by September 2009, according to regulation NOM-086-SEMARNAT-SENER-SCFI-2005.

A Mayan sanctuary of the classical period, Palenque was at its height between AD 500 and 700, when its influence extended throughout the basin of the Usumacinta River. It was the flood plain of the Usumacinta to the north that most likely provided Palenque’s inhabitants with the resources to construct their extraordinary city. The elegance and craftsmanship of the buildings, as well as the lightness of the sculpted reliefs with their Mayan mythological themes, attest to the creative genius of this civilization. The architecture of Palenque was truly inventive. They reduced the massive weight of the traditional corbel arch by reducing its span with a dividing wall and the use of tribolated hollows that minimized the stress on load bearing walls. This allowed the Palenque builders to construct buildings with multiple piers and doorways on the front to let air and light into the interior. Mansard roofs decorated with stucco carvings and horizontal mouldings gave the Palenque structures a pleasing linear appearance.
